Kia ora, hello
I’m Sarah, the heart and hands behind the creations you'll find on this site. I work from my home studio in beautiful Aotearoa, New Zealand.
I work with recycled precious metals, consciously sourced gemstones, and sometimes found objects like shells and other little gifts from nature. I also work with human and animal remains to create bespoke memorial jewellery.
Like many artists, I find an abundance of inspiration in the natural world around us. I borrow forms and textures from it, attempting to secure what is delicate and fleeting within the permanence of precious metal. My work is also inspired by emotion and memory, by the bonds that our hearts can form between the people and places that we meet along our life journeys.
Growing up, I moved around with my family quite a bit and had the privilege of experiencing life in a few different places around the world. In later years, I moved to New Zealand where I completed a bachelor’s degree in contemporary craft and silver-smithing at Unitec, Mt Albert. My recent years have been split between living and working in New Zealand and Australia. It is perhaps because of regularly moving around that I have garnered a deep appreciation and love for the sentimental power of jewellery and other small objects, things that can be easily carried with us through our life journeys. Mementoes, souvenirs, talismans, keepsakes – these are all tangible reminders of the people, places and feelings that we choose to hold close to our hearts as we move through our lives, wherever our feet take us.
Thank you for being here and exploring my work. If you'd like to reach out for any reason at all, you can find me here.
With warmth,
Sarah x
